Appalachian Roots and Resilience

I didn’t grow up thinking much about what was on my plate. I do recall was mortified when I learned chicken legs were actual legs from chickens. I grew up on a lot of fresh garden veggies, but the shift to more junk food was inevitable. There was no intention, no balance, no deep self-awareness – just habits.

Eventually, I started asking myself real questions.
What would it feel like to feel good – really good?
What would it mean to create a life that’s not just about coping and getting by?

For me, didn’t come in a single breakthrough. It came through small, consistent choices. What started with changing my diet to feel better turned into changing everything to feel amazing. Moving with intention. Asking hard questions.

I no longer accept feeling disconnected as a normal part of life. I pay attention to how things make me feel – from the food on my plate to the people in my circle to the thoughts I entertain. Life isn’t a straight path… growth never is. It’s not always clean or easy. But it is possible. It isn’t about perfection. It’s about coming home to yourself slowly and intentionally.
